May. The physical push of yoga, the detoxifying effects of juicing, the importance of mental awareness, and the urgency for our world to call light to bloom above the darkness…seemingly disconnected thoughts, harnessed together by one theme: the beauty of the bloom they bring.
The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of the Lord stands forever –Isaiah 40:8
All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away, but the word of the Lord endures forever -1 Peter 1:24-25
April showers bring May flowers, but what do May flowers bring? The cheeky little phrase you’ve heard a hundred times. The thing about flowers though is that they aren’t forever. Don’t get me wrong here, I love fresh flowers. And that is probably an understatement. If you have fake plants in your house we can't be friends. Just kidding. But really. Don’t have fake plants in your house. I digress…
The thing about flowers is that they aren’t forever.
In 1 Peter, Jesus speaks of the faulty nature of flowers. Followed by a seemingly disconnected statement that the world of Lord endures forever. Some scholars believe Jesus literally spoke these words during the month of May. A month that draws Israel’s climate into a 5 month period of little to no rain fall. It would make sense that Jesus, a man who somehow hit all learning styles in a single communicated parable, would use the physical land’s composition to communicate his point to all us visual learners out there. (Thanks Jesus)
How beautiful it is that a prophetic word is fufilled by simple flowers. How beautiful it is to know that we have access to a spoken prophecy over our lives through the Word every single day if we scores to engage it. We should cling to it, meditate upon it, soak it up every free chance we have—though we often don’t.
And yet it stands. His word enduring forever—whispering out promises for our eternity.
Sisters, as you read this month's publication, and as we breathe in each new calendar day this month:
May we see His promises for our lives begin to bloom
May we see our physical bodies strengthen with every new sun-filled hour, as we fill and build them strong.
May we actively choose to make the Living Word come alive in our spirits and souls.
May we be grounded in His word so that our blossoms may never fade, but see the glory of golden streets, the splendor of His majesty.
May we be reminded and grown by simple, tangible objects that are relative in our day to day lives, but Holy when seen as eternal teachings powerful enough to change the eternal fate of thousands…millions...
Here’s to a sisterhood whose May flowers will be grown by Heavenly rays, and Holy rain. Strong shoots, drawing us ever closer to Him.
