In Manchester as in Heaven

I recently spent a few days in New York City. I always leave with the bizarre intermingling of 'never been more energized,' and 'I think I could sleep for two days straight.' The energy of humanity in that city in hard to put into words. A concrete swamp filled with movers and shakers, dreamers and do-ers. I love the buzz.

The presence of worldly power in NYC is inescapable. Billboards, taxi ads, fashion shows, Wall Street, world renowned museum events, political campaigns, noted artists, politicians, and deemed celebrities for anything and everything themselves, holed up in their residences. With this presence comes the "always in the back of your mind" thought of danger. I imagine this is mostly for the traveler who buzzes in and out like myself, but regardless, the post 9-11 threat and reality of terrorism rings out.

Last night, and about a week out of this mindset, I read the news out of Manchester. ISIS attacking a concert with the intentional target of children and women. And there was the "in the back of my mind" emotions again, only this time they are realities to so many lives that I feel so far removed from.

So though our hands and feet may not be there to aid and support the people of Manchester, we lift up our voices once again because there is evil to be dispelled and Light to intervene.

Father God-show yourself as just that to the people of Manchester. A GOOD and PERFECT Father. Lord we speak against the plans of the enemy, the physical plans of ISIS as they continue to wage war on the Earth and agree with your Word in 2 Corinthians as we raise our weapons high:

"The tools of our trade aren’t for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity."

We pray peace beyond understanding, and somehow for an awakening of hope in senseless chaos, and a sense of salvation in the areas and lives calling out for a Savior. For the families who have faced literal death in the past 48 hour, we call your life light to awaken them to your plans for redemption and renewal of all things. Come swift Jesus. May it be in Manchester as it is in Heaven in the name of Jesus.
